Our volunteers keep us going!
SAAP is a 100% volunteer run organization. SAAP needs your help to continue our mission! SAAP offers a wide variety of options for volunteering, some of which are described below. If you’re interested in volunteering with SAAP please complete the volunteer application. Please reach out to us at SAAP@adoptastray.com if you have a skill set or service you can bring to SAAP outside of the current volunteer positions below.
Please note that while volunteer applications and foster applications are separate, and we would love for you to consider both!
Transport Animals from Shelter to Vet
SAAP relies on transport volunteers to meet our shelter partners throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia to transport the dogs and cats we are bringing into SAAP to our partner vet in Northern Kentucky. These transport trips are typically scheduled for Mondays and Tuesdays.
Transport Boarded Dogs to Adoption Events
Some dogs stay at SAAP’s boarding partners when a foster home is not available. Dogs in boarding need volunteers to pick them up on Saturday and Sunday mornings, take them to adoption events, and return them to boarding if not adopted. Volunteers are encouraged to take the dogs on walks and spend time with them before or after adoption events.
Adoption Events
Adoption event volunteers help setup for adoption events, provide potty breaks, and talk to potential adopters about the SAAP adoption process and the available animals at the event.
Fundraising Events
SAAP hosts a variety of fundraising events and relies on volunteers to help plan, set up, and run these events. This includes help soliciting donations and event advertising.
Virtual Foster
Virtual fosters help post available dogs and cats on SAAP social media pages to increase visibility of our available animals and increase adoptions.
