Laverne was rescued on February 6th from P.A.W.S. of Dearborn County in Lawrenceburg, IN. She came into the shelter with 13 other dogs from the same home, only she was pregnant.
We picked her up and transported her to Riverview Animal Hospital where she was guestimated around 6 years old. She was given a sonogram and Dr. Mahan saw at least 4 puppies. Laverne gave birth on February 20th to exactly 4 puppies, one of which was born with a birth defect and he, Sonny, expired less than 24 hours after he was born. The remaining 3 pups are thriving and getting fat!

Rose joins SAAP Nation. Momma Rose had found her way to a nice woman’s house that let her bunk in her shed. They next day, when she contacted her local KY shelter, she noticed that she had been shot! Not only that but she had delivered 6 pups during the night! The Sheriff gave them a ride to a vet to verify and evaluate her wounds. From there she caught her freedom ride to SAAP with her little family.
